Finding a path toward a solution; viewing circumstances from a bird’s-eye perspective. Receiving material or non-material support. Reframing how one deals with a problem or symptom—all of this can be facilitated by a practice rooted in systemic ritual.

A process tailored to a specific request helps establish a connection with the unseen aspects of significant circumstances. The work can awaken empathy and redirect attention toward aspects of a conflict-ridden or dramatic situation that will bring relief.

A 3-part process

Step 1. RequestStep 2. Development of StructureStep 3. Ritual Takes Place

Client voices a problem, situation or context he/she wants to work on. Usually in a phone/WhatsApp conversation.

Decision to prepare a ritual is taken together by the practitioner and the client.
Payment is transferred,

Practitioner develops the structure of the ritual.
The session is carried out in the client’s presence on the appointed day.
Same day7 to 14 daysUsually, 90 minutes for a one-on-one session

What the client brings

Request for the work: a problem, life situation, issue of any kind that the ritual will be about.

Understanding of a problem can be quite clear or rather vague. The level of detail can vary from case to case. Sometimes the nature of the request does not allow for a detailed picture (due to a lack of information, for example), while sometimes, on the contrary, many significant details are available.

What the practitioner does during a session

Practitioner explains the map and key steps of the ritual to the client. This includes the subject of the ritual, what are the parts and elements. Actions to take during each step and what options are available.

Practitioner facilitates the process using voice, sometimes a drum or a rattle.

The client understands what happens during each stage of the ritual. Predictability of the process provides a sense of safety. Between the different parts of the ritual, the facilitator offers explanations. At each stage, sufficient time is allowed to fully experience the specific context.

Sometimes, the practitioner interprets the elements or developments that are difficult to understand. Meanwhile the process is truly personal, some of the experiences of the client are a result of their inner events developing in contact with the fruitful environment of the ritual.

About the Systemic Ritual Practice

Created by Daan Van Kampenhout
Includes elements brought from the worldview of traditional shamanic rituals and techniques originally belonging to systemic constellations.

Potential results

  • New understanding of a situation or a problem taking place in the present, past or future.
  • Solutions, important components, significant elements become visible and help understand a particular issue.
  • As the emotional backdrop shifts, it becomes easier to deal with specific circumstances.
  • Often clients feels softer, empowered, inspired after the process.
  • Letting go of unrealistic expectations.
  • Feeling more certainty and strength.
  • Connecting to powers that can support the needed movement (ancestors, nature, spirits etc.)

Key aspects

Sessions are individual (one-on-one).

Intimate, relatively quiet process.

We use certain surface or a “ground plan” during sessions. Objects metaphorically represent particular figures, or aspects of the situation. During the process we change the disposition of some of the figures, other objects are left untouched. The relationships between elements may develop and change over the course of a ritual.

Changes on the “map” reflect and resonate with the internal events and insights that occur during the session.

Each session is unique; the practitioner structures the ritual based on what the client requests.
